Job Description

BIOCHEMISTRY/MOLECULAR BIOLOGY (IN-BIOM-IUINA)

  • Works closely with PI to learn experimental techniques
  • Prepares reagents required for experiments using standard molecular biology techniques
  • Grows mammalian cells and treat with compounds to determine mechanism of action
  • Assesses localization of fluorescently labeled proteins within the cell using confocal microscopy
  • Maintains detailed laboratory notes describing experiments


EDUCATION

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in STEM or related field


Required

WORK EXPERIENCE

  • 3 years of research experience in the preparation of solutions
  • Experience operating sophisticated instrumentation


Skills

Required

  • Demonstrates knowledge of sterile technique in a biosafety cabinet
  • Ability to work several hours at a time on a confocal microscope
  • Proficient computer skills
  • Ability to run programs and analyze data


This role requires the ability to effectively communicate and to operate a computer and other standard office productivity equipment. The position involves sedentary work as well as periods of time moving around an office environment and the campus.
