- * _Summary:_**
Responsible for the financial and clinical management of the Department of
Child Life ServicesChild Development. Maintains 24 hour responsibility for
all human, fiscal and material resources for the department. Responsible for
coordination of special events and promotion of child advocacy.
- *_Responsibilities:_**
- Establishes and implements yearly goals which were formulated to facilitate corporate, institutional, and divisional goal attainment.
- Monitors operations of the department and measures progress towards goals, identifying problems and taking corrective action.
- Participatesserves as a memberchair of intra and interdepartmental committees and taskforces which are focused on improving patient care.
- Collaborates with all departments in an effort to provide excellence in service.
- Acquires and maintains needed departmental resources human, fiscal, and material.
- Counsels, guides, and mentors associates in the department.
- Evaluates job performance of associates in the department.
- Directs the process improvement activities for the department.
- Confronts and resolves conflicts in a timely and effective manner.
- Identifies educational needs of staff and plans and implements programs to meet their needs.
- Serves as a resource for other departments, providing educational programs as needed.
- Identifies educational needs of children and families and works with department to develop programs to meet these needs.
- On an annual basis, develops operating and capital budgets which meet the needs of the department.
- Actively seeks sources of funding, managing the receipt and distribution of all donations.
- Serves as the coordinator for special events for children.
- Serves as the hospital liaison with the school districts.
- Responsible for the Child Life internships and practicums.
- Markets the impact of child life on the child’s hospital stay by completing reports, reporting at meetings, and through formal and informal educational programs.
- Demonstrates competence to perform assigned patient care responsibilities in a manner that meets the population-specific and developmental needs of patients served by the department.
- Appropriately adapts assigned patient care assessment, treatment, andor care methods to accommodate the unique physical, psychosocial, cultural, age specific and other developmental needs of each patient served.
- Demonstrates adherence to the CORE values of Santa Rosa Health Care.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- *_Requirements:_**
**EDUCATION:**
- Masters Degree in Child LifeChild DevelopmentEducation or related field is required.
- Bachelors Degree in Child LifeChild Development is required.
**EXPERIENCE:**
- Completion of five (5) years post masters experience involving direct patient contact and family interaction in a hospital or health care facility is required.
- Two (2) years experience in a Children’s Hospital is required.
**LICENSURECERTIFICATION:**
- Must maintain Child Life certification.
- CPR certification is required.
